Description:
The 34th annual international show jumping event gets underway next weekend at the Centre Equestre du Maine Gaud in Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, and this year spectators can take advantage of a free shuttle bus from the centre of Royan.
Normally held in July, Jumping International Royan Atlantique has been moved to 20, 21 and 22 August, after worries over funding meant there were doubts it would take place at all. Take place it will however, with three days of competition for the 46 riders from 13 different countries. The competition will be rounded off on Sunday night with an equestrian spectacle.
The event is one of twelve similar engagements on the French equestrian calendar, and serves as a qualifying event for the national finals, which will be held at Fontainbleu between 28 August and 5 September.
Organisers have laid-on a 55 seat shuttle bus which will depart at various times from Avenue fleurs de la paix in Royan, taking spectators to the equestrian centre at Saint-Palais-sur-Mer. A free minibus has also been arranged to ferry visitors around the site. You can see the complete timetable by clicking here.
Jumping International Royan Atlantique gets underway on Friday 20 August, with free entry for spectators. Tickets for Saturday and Sunday cost from 9 euros, and food is available on site. For further information, see the official website.
