La Rochelle airport has posted positive results for the first half of 2010, with passenger numbers boosted by two new routes.

The new route to Oslo (Brygge) was put into service by Ryanair back in April, whilst the route to Cork in Ireland formerly operated by Aer Arann was revived by Ryanair in June.  The seasonal Brussels connection started back in March (originally introduced in June 2009), and a combination of these developments goes some way to explaining a 5.95% increase in passenger traffic for the first six months of 2010.  Traffic in June was up by a healthy 14.12%

These figures are a boost for the Chamber of Commerce, who endured a tough 2009, with a drop in traffic registered on both the Lyon (via Poitiers) and London Stansted routes.  However, the first six months have not brought just good news, with the Dublin, Glasgow and Edinburgh routes all suffering a fall in usage.
