Poitou-Charentes is without question a region dedicated to saving the environment, so it comes as no surprise that the Salon Bio event will be welcomed in both Poitiers (September), and La Rochelle (February 2011).

This year Salon Bio has the tag-line “Respirez la Vie” (breathe life), and brings three days of conferences, exhibitions and eco-friendly products to those seeking to make their lives and businesses greener. 

Professionals from key eco-industries will be on hand to offer advice, workshops and products to help both industry and the wider public make greener choices on issues such as food, tourism, ecology and sustainable development.  Bio-farmers will be on hand to offer tasting of organic produce, such as wine, chocolate, cheese and more, at a specially organised bio-market.  There will be a zone covering health and beauty products, as well as clothing made from natural fibres.

Poitou-Charentes is the 10^th region of France when it comes to bio-farming, with 449 separate farms utilising just 1.4% of the agricultural land, and the region has a plan in place to encourage bio-agriculture between 2008 and 2012, with help available for converting and maintaining bio-farms, help with restoring farm facilities, and help with tools and equipment.

Salon Bio takes place at the Parc des expositions Les Arènes in Poitiers from 17 to 19 September, and in La Rochelle at the Espace Encan from 18 to 20 February 2011.  For further information on the Salon Bio, visit their website.
