Two new discovery walks have been introduced in the centre of Angoulême (Charente), with newly installed signposts and information panels telling the history of places along the way.

The blue route (marked by a blue flower symbol) takes visitors on a tour of ‘the city in its ramparts,’ and the green route (marked by a green flower symbol) takes visitors along the banks of the Charente River in the town.

These new routes supplement the existing red circuit, which was set up last year to take people on a tour of the heart of Angoulême.  Information panels are in both English and French, and all three circuits start at avenue des Maréchaux. 

The blue ramparts circuit is 4.1km long, and contains 12 separate information panels along the way, whilst the green river circuit is 5.2km in length with 13 information panels.  The walks are estimated to take 2 and 3 hours respectively to complete for seasoned walkers.  The tourist office has printed some 25,000 maps giving further information on the three routes, and these will be available from both the tourist office, and the town hall.
