Description:
According to Vienne daily Centre Presse, negotiations are taking place that could result in a new Center Parcs holiday complex being built in Vienne.
The Pierre et Vacances group are looking to open a sixth Center Parcs in western France before 2015. Two departments are in competition to clinch the deal, which would mean between 800,000 and a million visitors per year, and 500 new jobs. Maine-et-Loire and Vienne are both looking to attract the project, and a number of potential sites are under consideration, including in Loudunais, near the borders with Deux Sevres, Indre-et-Loire and Maine-et-Loire.
Vienne senator Jean-Pierre Raffarin and president of the general council Claude Bertaud are said to be closely involved in the negotiations.
