Rumours are circulating that Hugh Grant could be this year's star guest for the start of the new season of the popular TV series Fort Boyard.

Last year, it was basketball star Tony Parker and supermodel wife Eva Longoria who were the surprise visitors to the set of the programme, which is filmed in the iconic nineteenth century structure in the Pertuis d'Antioche straits off the coast of the Ile d'Oleron.

The programme is similar to the format of the UK programme Crystal Maze, with teams of contestants completing timed physical and mental challenges.

Fort Boyard is normally broadcast towards the end of June on France 2 television.
