Around 7500 supporters of La Rochelle were present in Brive yesterday to see their club edge past Lyon in the Pro D2 play-off final.

The club has flattered to deceive in recent seasons, falling at the play-off stage this time last season, but yesterday they defeated Lyon 32-26 to secure their place in the Top 14.  Next season will be a mouth-watering prospect for the yellow and blacks, with big-guns like Toulouse, Clermont and Jonny Wilkinson’s Toulon set to visit Stade Marcel Deflandre.
