Thousands of rugby fans from La Rochelle will head to Brive-La-Gaillard in Limousin this Sunday, to see their team face Lyon in the final of the Pro D2 play-offs.  The prize?  A place alongside French rugby’s elite clubs in the Top 14.

Atlantique Stade Rochelaise are hoping to join league winners Agen in the top tier, after finishing joint second with Sunday’s opponents Lyon.  Last weekend they overcame fellow play-off hopefuls Oyonnax by the narrow margin of 6-3, setting up the big final date this weekend.

La Rochelle have come close to promotion in recent seasons, disappointingly losing out in last year’s play-offs to Albi.  But the yellow and blacks will descend on the 15,000 capacity Stade Amédée Domenech in Brive this Sunday, hoping their team is finally ready to make the step up to the big time.
