Description:

According to Météo France, Charente Maritime, Gironde and Les Landes can expect strong waves to hit the coast from midnight tonight (Friday) until 13h tomorrow afternoon.

A combination of strong south westerly winds and 6 to 7 metre waves will generate strong breakwaters and rising sea levels that could submerge certain areas of the coast.

The event is not expected to be on the same scale as storm Xynthia, but comes at a difficult time when sea defences are in the process of being repaired.
