Description:
Despite the fourth place finish of the two canoeists from Jarnac in the Charente, their supporters are proud to have seen their heroes perform so well in Beijing.
Around sixty supporters gathered at the Canoe and Kayak Club in Jarnac to watch two of their own try and take a medal in the C2 canoeing event on Friday morning. Martin Braud and Cédric Forgit had qualified for the final behind the Slovakian twins Peter and Pavol Hochschorner, but the final planned for Thursday was delayed due to adverse weather in Beijing.
The event finally got underway at 10.15 on Friday morning, and the duo missed out on a bronze medal by 78 hundredths of a second. They will now look forward with anticipation to the 2012 Olympics in London.
