Poitou Charentes swimming pools involved in La Nuit de l’Eau

07 February 2010

Description:

On Saturday 20 March, swimming clubs the length and breadth of France will be taking part in the third edition of Night of the Water (La Nuit de l’Eau), organised by the French Swimming Federation and UNICEF.

The event starts from 6pm, with some swimming pools remaining open until midnight to host a number of educational activities.  The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of water for life, and to raise money for charitable projects being run by UNICEF, including the provision of water for impoverished African countries, and educational programs for children on hygiene, health and cleansing.

The following clubs in Poitou-Charentes are signed up for the event, which raised over 100,000 euros in 2009:

Club Nautique Thouarsais - Piscine des Vauzelles

Sport Nautique Parthenaisien - Gatineo

CSAD Chatellerault - Centre Aquatique

Union Sportive Chauvigny Natation - Piscine Intercommunale

Cerce des Nageurs Saintais - Piscine municipale Louis Starzinsky

Canards Rochelais - Lucien Maylin
