Official - Poitiers is a great place for students

29 December 2009

Description:

According to the latest rankings given by letudiant.fr, Poitiers is regarded as the best of all small cities in which to study.

Poitiers came in ahead of competing cities such as Dijon, Caen and Limoges in the league table for places with under 250,000 inhabitants.  It came in a creditable twelfth in the overall rankings, with the larger cities of Toulouse, Grenoble and Montpellier occupying the top spots.

The list is compiled each year using five standard criteria, and in 2009 Poitiers excelled in the areas of public transport, and the international make-up of the student population.  The university has some 3,800 foreign students, representing some 16% of the total student population.

The town also scored well for the number of restaurants, bars and discos available, as well as for environmental factors such as sunshine and air quality.
