Four dead as two planes collide at Rochefort, Charente Maritime

Four people have been killed in a collision between two tourist planes near the St Agnant airfield in Rochefort, at Beaugeay.

The dead include the 20 year-old pilot of one of the planes, and the pilot and two passengers of the other aircraft.  Both planes were Cessna small aircraft.  Conditions were described as 'ideal', and an investigation has been launched into the causes of the collision.  Transport Minister Dominique Bussereau has visited the accident site.
