Resident in France but a British citizen you can still vote in the UK

There are approximately 5.5 million British citizens living abroad, the Electoral Commission has estimated that only about 13,000 are on the electoral role in the United Kingdom.

The estimated full time British population in France is around 200,000, with another 60,000 being classified as part-time residents.

British citizens living abroad can become an overseas voter if they have registered to vote in the UK within the last 15 years.

With an election due sometime between now and June next year, it is wise to take steps now to ensure you are able to have your say.  Visit the Electoral Commission website to download a registration form.  

It is possible to vote by proxy or post, but with a four day time limit on postal votes to be received and returned, it is unlikely to be useable in France.  E-voting is not currently an option, but may be in the future although it poses a significant security problem.

So if you wish to vote it would be wise to start the process of registration as soon as possible.
