10,000 people expected for fireworks spectacular at St Yrieix, Charente

The annual summer fireworks spectacular at the lake of St Yrieix, Charente is expected to attract around 10,000 spectators on Friday 14 August, with an extra special show planned from 11am.

For the last twenty years, a fireworks concert has been held at the leisure lake, and the 2009 edition will span 25 minutes, with music from the films 'Gladiator', 'Pirates of the Caribbean', 'King Arthur' and 'Alexandre' set to accompany some 400 kilos of explosives.

Spectators will gather on the west bank of the lake, while on the opposite side a huge sound system will play the music, which will also be broadcast on local radio station Radio Attitude (98.3fm).
