Description:
New European regulations will come into force in 2016, regarding the minimum quality of bathing water, which could have an impact on lakes, rivers and beaches in Poitou Charentes. Whilst there are many places with an excellent standard of water, there will be places that do not come up to scratch.
A government website www.baignades.sante.gouv.fr can give you all the information you need to find out about your holiday destination, and whether the water is safe for swimming (in English).
