Treasure hunt rally reveals the best of Charente-Limousine

Last Sunday saw the first Treasure Hunt Rally take place in Charente-Limousine, with more than twenty cars enrolled for the competition.

The event was dreamt up by local interpreter Debbie Bradbury, who spent weeks researching and preparing a fun and informative tour of some of the key places of interest in the area.  Places like Chabanais, Chateau de Rochebrune and the Etang de la Feculiere were on the agenda, with the event finishing at Confolens where prizes were awarded.

Guide2 Poitou Charentes caught up with some of the parcipients to see what they thought of the day:

The Winners - the Williams family

"We had a fab day - thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and being the rather surprised winners, it made it extra special!  Well done Debbie once again for organising a great day out."

Second Place - Aveyard family

"We really enjoyed Sunday the older kids enjoyed it more than the youngest. Would love to do another. Debbie did a fantastic job of arranging it all. Thanks to all for a superb day"

Third Place - Louise, Andy and Ian

"We Just wanted to say a massive thank you for all your effort and time on Sunday.  It was a brilliant day and we thoroughly enjoyed it.  Well done"

Others

Ethell Family

"I think Debbie did a great job and I can't even begin to imagine how much work went into the whole day, it was so well planned and a great idea. I would do the treasure hunt again but without children, I think it was a brilliant idea and a great way to find out some more about our region and I think it will be very well supported if Debbie does it again."

Byrant Family

"for me the pros were - nice day, lovely locations, something different, great way to explore the area.  The cons were - probably a few too many locations to cover and enjoy in one day. I feel that the pros definitely outweigh the cons and I would love to do another."

David

"We had a brilliant day. Thank you for organising such a fantastic event.  I know how much hard work must have gone into it."

Woolls Family

"I wouldn't really change anything about the day, maybe if I had to think of something I would say that a few more quiz sheets for the kids during the journeys would be good. All in all a fab day and a great idea.  We would definitely do it again."

The Longstaff's

"We had an excellent day and enjoyed it very much.  We thought it was well organized and Debbie had put an awful lot of effort into it. Each location had its own interest and we just wish we had longer to appreciate them.  We would love to do another but perhaps on a slightly smaller scale"

J & S Fox

"We had a great day, thoroughly enjoyed it, and found lots of Charentaise places we didn't know, and very much appreciate the time and effort put in by the organising team.   Perhaps a half day, finishing with an early afternoon picnic, and the marking done by each other, would make it a less tiring day especially for those with young families. But we would definitely support the next one"

Derek and Sue

"I would just like to say a very BIG thanks for all your hard work into organising a superb day out traversing roads and visiting places we would not perhaps even had thought of going to.  You may have just found a new role in life as I am sure others like me will be wanting more of the Debbie brain teasers. Sunday we are told is a day of rest, I have never worked so hard on a Sunday for ages, but oh what fun!"

Golding Family

"One of our reasons for taking the leap over the water was to have more family time. Since moving to France we dived straight into starting our business along with renovating our home and that of two others into Gites. When we are at home we never seem to find the time to have fun, so the treasure hunt was a fantastic way to get us out as a FAMILY to have fun and explore this beautiful part of France.  Will we do it again?   Try stopping us!     When's the next one?  A fantastically organised event, credit to Debbie and her helpers."

Well the day seems to have been a huge success and everyone is looking forward to the next one!
