Description:
The newly built Planete des Crocodiles at Civaux is preparing to open its doors to the public for the first time on 4 August. The large glass dome structure measures 17m high, is 80m in diameter and has an area of 5000m2.
The attraction will house around 200 animals, with the controlled tropical climate and vegetation helping to recreate the environment of their country of origin. The tour takes visitors first to Australia, China, Egypt, Africa and then Louisiana for Alligators of the Mississippi, and Caimans.
The Commune of Civaux has invested heavily in this project, covering 75% of the 7.5m Euro outlay, and they expect to attract around 150,000 visitors a year. Prices are 11 Euro for an Adult, and 8 Euro for a Child, with discounts available for groups. Opening hours are 9am to 7pm (31 March to 30 Sept) and 10am to 6pm (1 Oct to 30 March).
