Description:
Both the Telegraph and the Daily Mail carried a story today about a terrifying attack by a swarm of bees at the Château Ardennes in Moulidars near Cognac, Charente.
The incident happened on Saturday as people visited an exhibition of paintings at the Chateau's pigeon loft. Thousands of bees descended on a group of visitors, including two British women. One of the women was stung around 500 times, whilst the others were also injured.
The loft was immediately closed down, and the exhibition moved to the local church hall. Bee keepers believe that the visitors to the exhibition were unlucky bystanders as two colonies of bees were vying for a place to live. The owner of the Château, Laure Moutet claimed the scene was like something out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie, and said that nothing like this had ever happened before at the building.
