Description:
One of the regions up-and-coming events has just published its programme for the 2009 edition, bringing three days of festivities to Jarnac and Cognac this November.
The Cognac Marathon is in its ninth year, and in 2008 posted a record number of competitors, with over two thousand runners taking part across the three races.
The marathon is accompanied by both half-marathon and 10km races, all starting from the place du Château in Jarnac, where both the competitors and spectators facilities are based.
This year the event will be held between 13-15 November, with Friday seeing the opening of the 'village gastronimique' and an afternoon reserved for inscriptions. The main race starts at 9am on Saturday, departing from the place du Château. Shuttle buses will take people from Jarnac to the Espace Carat in Angoulême in the evening for a 'Marathon Soirée.'
On Sunday morning a new discovery walk has been arranged to enable visitors to explore the area, with festivities finishing in the afternoon with a variety of music, sport and gastronomic animations.
