Description:
More than 1000 competitors and thousands of spectators will gather at the Palais des Congres du Futuroscope over Easter, for the tenth edition of the Gamers Assembly.
The event brings together the best video gamers from all over France, to compete against each other across all genres of video games, from strategy and role play, to sports games. The event runs from 11 to 13 April, with daytimes reserved for official competitions, whilst the evenings are set aside for free play.
Players will bring their own computers and connect them to a specially designed network, with key matches being shown on a large screen in a 1200 capacity auditorium. Players will play around the clock, grabbing sleep at a specially set up dormitory.
Around the competitions will be display stands from key companies from the video games industry, as well as free entertainment and a bar.
Poitou-Charentes plays an important role in the production of video games, with Angouleme being home to the Ecole Nationale du jeu et des medias interactifs numeriques. The school which is attached to both the University of La Rochelle and the University of Poitiers, produces high quality professionals covering all aspects of game production.
The event will cost players 40€ (or 45€ on site), whilst visitors will be expected to pay just 1€.
